The Group Management System (GMS)

The service documentation for CERN’s group management.

What it anchors

• GMS replaces E-groups: automatic transfer of existing groups July–September 2025, GMS as primary source in Q4 2025, E-groups read-only in Q2 2026 and decommissioned during 2026/7.
• Dynamic groups evaluate criteria against an ElasticSearch index fed from the HR database; criteria combine with AND; sensitive criteria (e.g. age) are tightly controlled.
• Faster synchronisation of members to the SSO, Active Directory and systems relying on the Authorization Service API.
