EDMS
The Engineering Data Management Service, established in the 1990s for the LHC: it stores, manages and distributes engineering information with document life cycles, review processes, versioning, project numbering and access rights, integrated with the CAD and maintenance-management systems. Its governing constraint is unusual — project lifecycles of 25 to 40 years — which makes format longevity and controlled documentation a design requirement, not good practice.
