What it anchors

• CC7 reached end of life on 30 June 2024. Through a special agreement with the Accelerator and Technology Sector, CERN IT rebuilds Red Hat’s Extended Lifecycle Support to be consumable at CERN until 1 January 2027.
• CERN and Fermilab jointly plan to provide AlmaLinux as the standard distribution for experiments at their facilities.
• In-place upgrades are not recommended: the procedure is to install a new machine with the new OS.
