A new data centre at CERN

CERN’s announcement of the Prévessin Computing Centre.

What it anchors

  • Inaugurated 23 February 2024 on the Prévessin site (France), spanning more than 6000 m², with six IT rooms of 2 MW cooling capacity each.
  • Target PUE of 1.1, against a worldwide average around 1.6, with a heat-recovery system set to warm buildings on the site.
