CERN Open Hardware Licence

A licence drafted at CERN to give hardware designs what free software already had. Version 2 (March 2020) splits into three variants — CERN-OHL-P (permissive), CERN-OHL-W (weakly reciprocal) and CERN-OHL-S (strongly reciprocal), the default when none is specified — and broadens scope beyond electronics to mechanical and artistic designs, ASICs, FPGAs and even software. A research laboratory legislating in intellectual property because no existing instrument fit.
