What CERNphone replaced: the Alcatel IP phones deployed between 2006 and 2014 on an ageing private exchange, and Skype for Business, in service from 2013 to 2021. Retiring both at once is the point — the laboratory had ended up running two parallel telephony systems, one proprietary hardware, one proprietary cloud.
