Mattermost

Adopted in early 2020 under malt, replacing a proprietary collaboration app after its subscription terms and data-handling changed. What makes it more than a chat client at CERN is the wiring: integrated with close to 100 tools, including Jira, GitLab and GitHub — the open-source replacement ended up more embedded than the product it replaced.
